Bayern Munich insist Lewandowski’s arrival will not force Mandzukic out

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge,
has made it clear that Mario Mandzukic is not
leaving the club, despite them announcing that
Robert Lewandowski will move to the Allianz Arena
this summer on Saturday.
The 27-year-old striker has scored 10 league goals
for the Bavarians this season, but is being linked
with a move away, especially with Lewandowski’s
imminent arrival.
Rummenigge was quick
to play down the
speculations and even
insisted that the Croat’s
current deal will be
extended soon.
“We’re very pleased with
Mario,” Rummenigge told
Bayern’s official website.
“He made a significant
contribution to us winning
so many trophies last
year.
“He’s a great player who
is thriving at Bayern. He
has a contract with us
until 30 June 2016, and I
told his agent during the
Club World Cup that we’re
willing to consider an
early contract extension.
“It is by no means a
topic of discussion that
we want to sell Mario.”
