A driver working with a popular transport
company, Young Shall Grow Motors, has
plunged to his death from a three storey
building after a reported quarrel with his wife in
their Olodi-Apapa residence in Lagos State,
southwest Nigeria.
The incident happened at Babatunde Street, Off
Wilmer Road, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.
The driver, simply identified as Uche,
reportedly fell from the balcony of the second
floor of the building in the evening after he
returned from work.
According to residents, Uche landed on his
head and died on the spot.
The matter was reported at Tolu Police station
in the area.
The body of the driver has been recovered by
the police and deposited at an undisclosed
mortuary for autopsy report.
When our reporter visited the house where the
incident happened, the driver’s wife and other
family members were not around as their flat
was locked.
Their neighbour, who confirmed the incident,
said the woman travelled to her village in
Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, after the
incident.
Many of the residents have expressed shock
over the death of the driver.
Some of the residents said the driver might
have committed suicide by jumping from the
building because of the constant quarrel he
had with his wife, while some believed he
might have been thrown out of the house
through the balcony.
P.M.NEWS gathered from the residents that
the house belongs to the wife’s relation, where
he was allowed to occupy one of the flats for
free.
His colleague at Young Shall Grow Motors told
P.M.NEWS that Uche was reluctant to go home
on the fateful day, complaining that he had a
minor disagreement with his wife.
He said he encouraged Uche to go home and
settle the matter with his wife, but was
shocked when he heard about his death the
next day.
When our reporter visited Tolu Police Division,
the DPO of the station was not around to
comment on the matter.
However, a police source confirmed the
incident and said the police have commenced
investigation on the matter.
